Assassination of former Prime Minister Abe

Former Prime Minister and serving member of the House of Representatives, Shinzo Abe, was assassinated on July 8, 2022.  He was shot at close range by a person with a handmade gun at a political event in Nara, Japan.  Berkeley Mayor, Jesse Arruguin, sent a letter of condolence to the Japanese Consul's office in San Francisco.  The Berkeley-Sakai Board forwarded Mayor Arruguin's letter with our own condolences to the City of Berkeley.
