This year marks the beginning of a new student exchange program between Berkeley and Sakai. Five high school girls and four adults traveled to Japan July 28 to August 8, 2016 and spent 4 days in Sakai.
All chaperones are current Berkeley-Sakai Association Board members and include Cheryl Rego, Brad McCullough, Jay Sordean and Katie Sanbongi. Two of the students are the granddaughters of one of the founding members of our Association, Tad Hirota. During their stay in Sakai, they had a host family stay and interacted with other high school students. After visiting Sakai, they spent 3 nights in Kyoto and 2 nights in Hiroshima before returning home.
